MEET TÉO
Téo (T) Ortega is a born and raised 9th generation resident of the Mesilla Valley Region, the ancestral homelands of their father’s people - the Piro-Manso-Tigua and Tortugas Pueblos - what is now referred to as Southern New Mexico. Téo has lived experience of homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, substance misuse, and the mental and behavioral health system.
Experience
Téo has over ten years of Continuum of Care Program experience, starting as a staff member of the New Mexico Balance of State CoC during their YHDP process, leading the community through the design process, improvements to coordinated entry, and regular and consistent evaluation and continuous quality improvement. Téo has over three years of experience as a technical assistant for HUD and supported several CoCs with various system planning and evaluation efforts. Téo’s direct service experience as a RHY Funded Street Outreach Case Manager and Director of Transitional Living Program for young people provides a foundation for applying real life scenarios and strategies to system and program design.
